Cardan Shaft

A Cardan shaft, also known as a universal joint shaft, is a mechanical device used to transmit rotary motion between two points while accommodating for angular misalignment between them. It is composed of two yokes, one at each end of the shaft, connected by a cross-shaped member called a spider. The yokes are connected to the shafts they are driving or being driven by, and the spider is connected to the yokes by a series of pins or needles. The Cardan shaft is able to accommodate angular misalignment between the two shafts by allowing the spider to rotate freely within the yokes. This allows the shaft to transmit rotary motion while accommodating for angular misalignment between the two shafts.
