Medical Devices

Medical devices are products that are used to diagnose, treat, or prevent diseases or other medical conditions. Examples of medical devices include pacemakers, artificial joints, stents, and hearing aids. Medical devices are regulated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Manufacturers must submit a premarket notification (510(k)) to the FDA before they can market a medical device. The FDA reviews the device to ensure it is safe and effective for its intended use.
