In the Fluorochemicals business space, SRF has grown to become the undisputed domestic market leader in the product line of refrigerants (CFC-ll, CFC-12, HCFC-22, HFC-134a and HFC-404a). The company enjoys around 38% market share in India with over two-thirds of its total production of refrigerants being exported to over 60 countries worldwide.


SRF's refrigerants find increasing use in a variety of industrial, commercial and household refrigeration and air-conditioning applications. These refrigerants are also used as blowing agents, solvents and as propellants in life saving metered dose asthma inhalers.


SRF is backward integrated into manufacturing of key raw material like Chloromethanes and Hydrofluoric Acid. This helps the business take direct control over larger section of the value chain and ensure uninterrupted availability of raw material. SRF is also a major supplier of Chloromethanes to pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals industry in the country.


SRF prides itself in having successfully developed processes to manufacture new generation refrigerants like HFC 134a and HFC 32 through in-house R&D efforts. The company's new production facility in Bhiwadi, Rajasthan is the first of its kind in India producing HFC 134a. Its product has been approved by major automobile, air conditioner and refrigerator manufacturers.


SRF has been at the forefront of the Climate Change movement and has been instrumental in making India one of the leaders at both the Montreal Protocol and the Kyoto Protocol. As a company SRF was one of the first to cut back on both, ozone depleting gases as well as greenhouse gases. Working as an active participant in the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) project under the guidelines of UNFCCC (United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change), SRF today boasts of some of the most reputed names as its project participants. Continuing with its CDM project, SRF has embarked upon several initiatives to aid sustainable development in the backward region of Alwar district, Rajasthan. These initiatives essentially focus on three areas namely natural resource management, education and health. The Company has been able to impact lives of more than 1,000 families in 17 arid villages of Rajasthan in association with some reputed nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) such as PRADAN and SARD.
