Concrete or metal volute pumps are installed in water transport for irrigation and drainage, for drinking and industrial water suppliers, as cooling water pumps for thermal power stations, and as seawater intake pumps for desalination plants. The volute of the vertical centrifugal pumps is made of different materials, depending on the service conditions and customer requirements, such as concrete, non-alloyed and low-alloy steel grades, stainless CrNi steel grades, Duplex and Superduplex steel grades.
