Shear Pump

A shear pump is a type of rotary pump that is characterized by the use of two interleaved helical gears to transfer energy. The high-pressure side of the pump consists of one gear, and the low-pressure side of the pump consists of another gear that is offset from the first by a number of degrees. As the two gears rotate, they produce a cutting action which shears any liquid that is passing between them. This cutting action creates a vacuum in the low-pressure side, drawing in additional liquid from the inlet and pushing it into the outlet side of the pump. Shear pumps are used in many industries, such as oil and gas, petrochemical, food processing, and pharmaceuticals, for pumping liquids.
