Spiral Bevel Gear

Spiral bevel gears are a type of bevel gear that have helical teeth which are angled in conical shape. They are used to transmit power between intersecting shafts, usually at a 90 or 45 degree angle. Unlike straight bevel gears, the teeth on spiral bevel gears have slightly curved edges which give them quiet operation and reduce vibration and wear. They are commonly found in automotive transmissions, submarine propeller drives, and aircraft engine reduction boxes.
