 DISTICTION BWTWEEN  OIL BURNER & DIFFUSER To best use essential oils and aromatherapy, we need to get the scent into the air. Aromatherapy diffusers and essential oil burners are two very effective ways to do this. Both methods are easy to use, but one will likely be better for you over the other. Comparing the benefits and drawbacks of both is the best way to see which is the better fit.
1.Essential Oil Burner
These either resemble candle holders or very tiny clay ovens. The type that uses a candle is very easy to use. There will be a small container on the very top of it. Water and the essential oil, or oils, of your choice should be put here. In the under compartment, also referred to as a grotto, you will place a candle that fits in there. 
In many cases this is a tealight candle. The candle should be lit. This will then warm the oils that were placed in the above container. To create a very aromatic mixture, the general rule of thumb is two tablespoons of water with three to five essential oil drops. Several different oils, or just one, can be used.
Essential oil burners can also come in electric form. These look similar to a humidifier. They generally have a compartment to place an essential oil/water combination. Once they are plugged in they can be switched on to generate the heat needed to warm the oil and disperse the scent.
